If you own a Club Car golf cart, you already know what a great riding experience it provides. Your confidence in your rust-free aluminum body and your cart's smooth drive is second to none.

However, one piece of equipment that gets a lot of wear and tear that you may want to upgrade is your cart's wheels and tires.

If you are in the market for new wheels and tires due to worn-down tread or just looking to spruce up your cart's style, you need to know a few critical pieces of information. This article will get all that taken care of for you. Let's jump in!

What size tires go on a Club Car golf cart?

There are various-sized golf cart wheels and tires out on the market today so it is important you understand what size works for your golf cart.

If the idea of adding new golf cart wheels sounds tremendous but adding a lift kit sounds daunting, no need to stress- you still have plenty of great wheel and tire options for your cart.

Stock Club car carts come equipped with tire combos that reach an overall height of approximately 18".

This is the maximum height that can go on a standard, non-lifted Club Car golf cart. If your cart has good suspension and leaf springs, you may be able to get away with 18.5". This is true no matter what Club Car model cart you have.

Obviously, if you have a lifted golf cart, you open yourself up to a wider range of tire combos to shop from (more on that below).

To ensure that your cart reaches optimum performance it is important that you select the correct wheel size along with the correct tires to make sure your tire combos mount properly and don't rub.

Now that you know the max size that fits on your non-lifted Club Car, let's take a look at golf carts with lift kits installed.

Lifted Club Car Golf Cart Tires

As we discussed earlier if you have a lifted cart you have a much wider variety of golf cart wheels and tires you can choose from. Here is a snapshot of the lift kit size and the corresponding wheel and tire combo you can add:

• Club Car carts with a 1" lift kit: You can add wheels and tires with a 20" overall diameter (street/turf tread only).

• Club Car carts with a 3" lift kit: You can add wheel and tire combos with a 20" overall diameter (street/turf tread OR off-road tread).

Pro Tip: This sizing referenced above can often be confusing for Club Car owners. On the passenger side of most Club Car carts, there is a small wiring harness channel that protrudes into the wheel well.

By adding a 1" lift kit, you get just enough clearance to add a 20" wheel and tire combo with street or turf tread because this combo typically is not very wide.

This increase in height plus the non-aggressive tread allows you to avoid contact with that wiring harness channel.

On the other hand, off-road and other aggressive treads add more width to your cart wheels and tires. This increased width means your tires will still contact the wiring harness channel unless a 3" lift is installed.

• Club Car carts with a 4" lift kit: You can install wheels and tires with a 22" overall diameter.

• Club Car carts with a 6" lift kit: You can install wheels and tires with a 23" overall diameter.

Club Car golf cart wheels- Bolt pattern and lug nuts

Although the bolt pattern and lug nuts for your cart may seem like some of the smaller details you need to know, purchasing the wrong bolt pattern or lug nuts will not allow you to mount your golf cart wheels and tires properly.

As a result, it is important that as you shop, you select the correct measurements at checkout. Let's take a closer look at these categories.

What is the bolt pattern on a Club Car golf cart?

Club Car golf carts utilize the standard 4 x 101.6mm lug nut pattern. As you browse through different product listings, you may see this referred to as the "4 x 4" pattern. This pattern is utilized by almost all major golf cart manufacturers.

This measurement is from the center of one wheel stud to the center of an opposite diagonal stud.

Due to this bolt pattern being common across golf cart manufacturers, it is the pattern used on almost all aftermarket golf cart wheels, so finding something for your Club Car should be no problem.

What size lug nuts do Club Car carts use?

Club Car golf carts use the 1/2 x 20 "Standard" SAE lug nut. This lug nut measurement refers to the size and pitch of the threads on the golf cart wheel studs.

This size is prevalent, and as long as you select the correct size at checkout, you won't have any problem.
