What Are The Differences Between The Seats You Offer?

Gusto™

The Gusto™ rear seats are an economy seat that is a great low-cost, entry-level rear seat. It is perfect for the person who needs a functional product without all the bells and whistles typically found on other rear seat kits. Our gusto golf cart rear seats do have many add-on options such as a grab bar, hitch, and seat belts but they are not included with the base seat purchase and must be added on or purchased separately. Additionally our Gusto™ line of seats are available for more hard-to-find models such as the EZGO Marathon and Yamaha G2, G8 and G9 golf carts. We sell the Gusto™ line in either steel or aluminum.

MadJax™ Genesis 250

The MadJax® rear seat is a more luxurious model rear seat. It offers various upgrades like built in cup holders, premium cushions and a wider footplate and cushion base for a more comfortable ride. This is a great seat for those who are going to be primarily hauling extra passengers and want to make sure they are comfortable and safe. The Genesis rear seat is still a flip seat and you will have a fully functioning cargo tray. On top of that, the Genesis seat includes a grab bar that can be folded up and secured for easy storage. The Genesis 250 golf cart seat is only available in steel.

Should I Buy A Steel Or Aluminum Seat?

Steel

When comparing steel and aluminum, the main benefit of steel is its strength. Steel is a stronger metal and as a result, will be able to withstand more years of wear and use. The downside of steel is that steel can rust. If you live in a very humid climate or leave your golf cart outside in the elements for extended periods of time, this can start to cause rust to form on the steel surfaces. We do powder coat all of our seats though, so even our steel seats will have a robust weather-protected coating to help mitigate any rust or weather-related issues. For most customers, steel is going to be the ideal choice when picking a golf cart rear seat material.

Aluminum

The primary benefit of a golf cart back seat made out of aluminum is that aluminum will never rust. That means that no matter what kind of climate you live in, you won't have to worry about any ugly rust spots showing up. The downside of aluminum is that aluminum is a softer metal and what you gain in rust protection, you may lose in strength. Depending on what you plan on using your rear seat for, that could mean slight bending in the metal and the nuisance of having to bend and adjust it back. We recommend aluminum rear seats for customers who live in very humid climates or on the coast, everyone else should stick with steel.

Are Golf Cart Rear Seats Difficult To Install?

Perhaps one of our most commonly asked questions it is also one of the most difficult to answer. While you certainly don't have to be mechanically inclined or be an expert craftsman, installing a rear seat on your golf cart is going to take some elbow grease. You will have to remove some of the factory components that came on your seat and install some new hardware and mounting brackets that are included in your rear seat purchase. One of the most common difficulties we see when installing rear seats is the unforeseen "this doesn't seem to fit right" moment. Unfortunately, golf carts are not like automobiles, from years of use on golf courses and in neighborhoods, and the occasional tinkering from previous owners, things sometimes don't line up as they should. However, with some slight bending or adjustment, you should be able to get your rear seat installed with no major issues at all. With that being said, most golf cart rear seat installations are able to occur without any problems. When installing a rear seat, here are our top tips:

1. Install with a friend. An extra set of hands can go a long way in helping to get things lined up and tightened down.

2. Block out 1-2 hours to get the job done. You may be able to get it installed faster, especially if you do it with someone else but it's always better to set proper expectations.

3. ALWAYS LEAVE THE BOLTS LOOSE UNTIL THE END. Leaving some play in the bolts and mounting hardware makes getting things lined up much easier. After you get everything installed and placed in the proper positions, go back through at the end and tighten everything down. You will thank us later.
