ICON Golf Carts Tire Sizing Guide

Although ICON golf carts have only been around since 2017, they have made a splash in the golf cart and low-speed vehicle world!

In fact, according to Google, there are, on average, 22,000 searches a month for the term "ICON golf carts" (at least at the time of the writing of this article). That is no small number!

With that volume, you can be sure that plenty of ICON golf carts are out on the road.

And when there are that many carts out on the road, you can be sure of one thing- they will eventually need to replace their tires !

And you can be sure that when many carts need their tires replaced, Golf Cart Stuff will have the answers you are looking for!

And you can now be sure that this is the last time I will write "and you can now be sure."

ICON Golf Cart Models And Their Tire Sizes

As of this article's writing, 10 ICON golf cart models are available for sale. Here is their current line-up:

• i40
• i40 L
• i40 F
• i40 FL
• i60
• i60 L
• i60 F
• i80

Thankfully, they all fall into two categories: either lifted or non-lifted. It is pretty easy to tell what carts are lifted and which are not: anything with an "L" has a lift kit installed.

What Rims Work With ICON Carts?

Before we get into the specifics of lifted or non-lifted ICON carts, there is one thing we need to address and that is rim sizing. We can only say with a high degree of confidence that ICON carts can use 12" (or larger for lifted carts) golf cart wheels.

You may be thinking, "What about 8" or 10" golf cart wheel and tire combos? I see plenty of those around."

8" golf cart rims are definitely not compatible with ICON carts and 10" rims are a.... maybe.

"But why?" you ask. The reason we know 8" rims won't work and aren't certain about 10" wheels (or larger for lifted carts) is because ICON golf carts have disc brakes.

Although this is an excellent feature of ICON carts, an 8" rim is too small and won't be able to fit over the diameter of the disc brakes and calipers.

In regards to 10" golf cart rims, we don't yet know what wheel offset ICON golf carts use on their factory wheels. The standard offset on aftermarket golf cart wheels is a negative offset of either "ET-15" or "ET-25".

A negative offset moves the wheel and tire slightly out from under your vehicle. ICON carts may require a slightly more pronounced offset in order to work. Time will tell!

What we do know is that we have had customers purchase 10" rims in the past for ICON carts and not be able to fit them over their disc brakes.

As a result, we recommend buying a 12" rim (or larger for lifted carts).

Non-Lifted ICON Cart Wheel & Tire Sizing

Non-lifted ICON golf carts (again, any model without an "L") come standard from the factory with 12" rims and 215/35-12 golf cart tires. The overall diameter of that combination would measure 18" in overall diameter, which is the smallest in golf cart tire sizing.

What does that mean for you?

Any ICON golf cart can fit a cart wheel and tire combo with a 12" rim and an 18" overall diameter. Any wheel and tire combo with a 20" overall diameter or larger will NOT work on these carts.

Lifted ICON Golf Cart Wheel and Tire Sizing

Lifted ICON golf carts, on the other hand, come standard with 12" wheels and 23x10.5R12 tires. That specific wheel and tire combination would have an overall diameter of 23".

As a result, if you have a lifted ICON cart, you can fit any wheel and tire combo that has either a 12", 14", or 15" golf cart wheel and an overall diameter of 23".

If you wanted to go smaller, you could also do that, so long as you have at least a 12" wheel. Either way, you have many more options if you have a lifted ICON golf cart.
