Not only are golf cart steering wheels some of the coolest accessories around, they are also some of the easiest to install! When purchasing a new steering wheel for your EZGO, Club Car, or Yamaha golf cart, it will be necessary for you to purchase the corresponding adapter. The adapter is the equipment that allows your new steering wheel to fit onto your cart's steering column. Let's walk through some of the installation processes below:
• To remove your old steering wheel, you will first need to remove your golf cart's steering wheel/scorecard cover. Some carts have screws on the backside of the steering wheel that will require removing before the cap comes loose, while others simply pop off.
• Once the cover is removed, you will find the main bolt(s) that keeps the steering wheel attached and mounted to the steering column. Remove that and your steering wheel should be able to slide off the steering column.
*Please Note* This photo was taken on a Club Car Precedent. Depending on your model golf cart, you may or may not have steering wheel/scorecard cover screws and your steering column may look slightly different.
*Pro-Tip* Before you begin installing your new steering wheel, make sure that your wheels and tires (and hence your steering wheel) are pointing forward and aligned with the front of your golf cart. You don't want to install your steering wheel in the proper position only then to realize that your wheels are at the wrong angle.
• The first step in installing your new steering wheel is to take the steering wheel adapter and mount that to your steering column. Begin by placing the narrow end of the steering wheel adapter on the steering column with the main steering column shoot from your cart coming up through the provided slot in the adapter.
*Please Note* You may receive a small washer in your kit that you can use when re-installing the OEM bolt on your steering wheel adapter.
*Pro Tip* You will notice your steering wheel adapter has a lot of smaller holes on the top edge. These holes align with your new steering wheel and attach it to the adapter. When installing your adapter, check to ensure that when you have your steering wheel attached it is lined up in the position you would like it to be. You will then re-use your old bolt(s) to attach the steering wheel adapter to the steering column.
• Once the steering column is in place, use the smaller screws provided in the kit to attach the steering wheel to the steering wheel adapter.
*Please Note* The progression of the install is as follows:
• Steering wheel adapter installs onto steering column.
• Steering wheel installs on steering wheel adapter.
