Do you want your golf cart to stand out? Do you want a unique product that is rare among golf cart owners? If you answered yes (or even "kind of") to either of those questions, you might be the perfect candidate for 15" golf cart wheels!
15" golf cart wheels are relatively new on the scene and, as a result, haven't entirely saturated the golf cart world. Don't let that fool you; their popularity is quickly starting to grow!
If you are planning on purchasing 15" wheels for your golf cart, you must know some critical pieces of information. Where can you find that vital information? We are glad you asked! We've got it all down below ↓↓!
In this post, we are going to walk you through the benefits of 15" golf cart wheels, the overall sizing of 15" combos, and show you some different tread options you have available for purchase. And... Here... We... Go!
Regarding golf cart wheels, 15" wheels are the biggest you can buy (at least when I wrote this article, they were!).
This extra large size gives you some unique advantages over other golf cart wheel and tire combos. Let's take a closer look at some of the benefits below.
If you do any searching online, one of the most frequently asked questions regarding golf cart wheels and tires is if putting on a bigger combo will increase the golf cart's speed.
The short answer to that is, yes, it probably will. Increasing the overall diameter of your wheels and tires allows your golf cart to cover more ground on each axle turn, giving it that slight boost in speed.
Considering 15" golf cart wheels are some of the largest wheels you can buy, going from stock 18" diameter wheels and tires to a 15" wheel and tire combo (20"-23" overall diameter) should give you a slight but noticeable increase in your golf cart's top speed.
Another benefit of 15-inch golf cart wheel and tire combos is the ability to add some serious eye candy to your golf cart!
Considering the uniqueness and size of 15" wheels, adding a set can make your golf cart stand out from the crowd.
Sometimes with smaller golf cart wheels (8", 10", and 12") the wheel can be overshadowed and "swallowed up" by the tire.
This overpowering can be especially true if you have a smaller wheel and a larger off-road or all-terrain tire.
Although smaller golf cart wheels clearly have their purposes and a variety of their own benefits, they can sometimes be a bit hard to look at.
15" golf cart wheels will provide you with plenty of "wheel" to catch the eye, no matter what tire tread you choose!
So if you treat your golf cart as more than a way to get around the golf course and want to make it your own, these large wheels will help.
Unsurprisingly, stock golf carts with standard wheel and tire combos sit pretty low to the ground.
Although there are plenty of golf cart owners who are okay with this setup, there are times when having your golf cart sit low is not ideal.
One of those times is when you regularly take your golf cart off-roading or are concerned about the underside of your golf cart getting damaged by debris or other road hazards.
A 15" golf cart wheel and tire combo will have an overall height of 22" or 23", which is about as big as it gets for golf carts.
This large diameter raises your cart off the ground and makes traveling over roots, rocks, and other hazards nothing to worry about.
Even if you don't take your golf cart off-roading, a 15-inch wheel with a street tire will make cruising around your neighborhood more stress-free!
Pro-Tip: It is always important to remember that any time you increase the height of your golf cart, it can make your cart feel a bit more unstable.
Keeping your golf cart low to the ground gives that feeling of hugging the road and can provide that extra sense of security. Consider a smaller wheel and tire combo for your golf cart if that is extremely important to you.
With 15" golf cart wheels, every golf cart will require a lift kit.
As we stated above, the minimum overall height of a 15" golf cart wheel and tire combo is 22 inches, with a maximum height of 23" inches.
[ 14-inch golf cart wheels have a minimum combo height of 20". To read more about 14-inch golf cart wheel and tire combos, check out this article. ]
Those heights will require a lift kit for all the standard golf cart manufacturers. Use the chart below to determine what size of lift kit your golf cart will need.
