For most golf cart owners, updating and upgrading their golf cart is a fun hobby. A new light kit, some side mirrors, a new set of wheels and tires, whatever accessory you choose, adding something new to your golf cart is a ton of fun! In addition to upgrades, everyone loves a nice cruise around the neighborhood or a drive down to the golf course.

While most people keep this within reason, a few golf cart owners have taken things to a whole new level over the years. Here are 5 official Guinness World Records for golf carts!

1. The World's Longest Golf Cart

World's longest golf cart by Mike's Golf Carts

On May 30th, 2013, the world's longest golf cart measured in at a whopping 31 ft 6.74in from bumper to bumper and is proudly owned by Mike's Golf Carts in Perry, Georgia. This monster of a cart boasts seating for ten, with two onboard tables! For reference, here are some other things that are approximately 31 feet in length:

  • Half of a bowling lane
  • Two mid-size sedan cars
  • Two giraffes stacked on top of each other
  • A 3-story building

So next time you see someone driving around in one of those extended six or eight-seater golf carts, remember, they don't have anything on what they have down at Mike's Golf Carts!

2. World's Fastest Golf Cart

World's fastest golf cart: The "Bandit" by PlumQuick

Although "speed" doesn't often come to mind when thinking about golf carts, you may have to change your assumptions when you hear how fast the "Bandit" by Plum Quick Motors can travel!

On October 31st, 2014, at Darlington Dragway in Hartsville, South Carolina, Robby Steen drove the Bandit at a blazing speed of 118.76 mph!

Now, this golf cart has had its fair share of upgrades, but I was surprised to see how much it still looked like a regular old golf cart! If you want your golf cart to dramatically increase its speed, check out our Teekon® motor kit (Club Car Precedent and DS golf carts only).

Although it won't get you up to 188 mph, you will be pleasantly surprised at how fast it goes (30+ mph).

3. Largest Golf Cart Parade

If you like golf carts and parades, then what happened on September 4th, 2005, would have been right up your alley! Occurring in The Villages, Florida, 3,321 participants took to the streets for a golf cart parade to raise money for various charities. Although we don't have a photo of the event, it's not hard to imagine that it was quite a sight!

4. Longest Journey In A Golf Cart

World's longest journey on a golf cart members

Between January 14th and January 22nd, 2017, Morugadi Venkata Krishna Reddy, Morugadi Vanaja, and Morugadi Vamshi Krishna Reddy traveled throughout India, covering 1034.6 miles! We don't have a record of where they traveled or stopped, but that is an incredible distance! For reference, here are some notable distances that are approximately 1000 miles:

  • New York, NY to Minneapolis, MN= 1200 miles
  • One-quarter of the Amazon River= 1000 miles

5. Longest Distance Traveled In A Golf Cart In 24 Hours

Although the Morugadi family holds the record for the longest distance in total, John and Ryan Pritchard have the record for the longest stretch in a golf cart in 24 hours.

Traveling an unbelievable 120 miles in the Villages, Florida, it is hard to imagine being on a golf cart for that long period. According to Guinness, they drove 12 laps of a 10-mile route.

It's unbelievably repetitive if you ask me, but when you have the record, some things are worth it!

Wait a second... we have some competition!

It turns out that the official record for longest distance traveled in a golf cart may be in jeopardy...

The guys are Cart Life TV traveled from Boca Raton, Florida all the way to Key West, Florida for a total of 215 miles. On top of that, they did it all in about 10 hours: 6am-4pm.

Even better is that they recorded everything!

Check out their videos documenting their trip below. While you're at it, make sure you subscribe to their channel as it looks like they are only going to continue filming their awesome adventures!
