The company was founded in 1954 in Augusta, Georgia, by two brothers named Bev and Bill Stevens. They began by building simple three-wheeled carts that could be used for hauling goods around golf courses, but they soon expanded into what we recognize as the modern-day golf cart market.

EZGO quickly became known for its reliable and durable golf carts, and by the 1960s, the company was the largest golf cart manufacturer in the world.
